Princess Cabare 3.5/5

Imperial Hotel, corner Bourke and Spring streets, until April 13

HERE's a satire dealing with a very girly subject: Disney princesses. It's written and performed by seven girls who call themselves Twisted Melon, and contains high-level coarse language and adult themes. It also includes musical parodies, wicked humour and exploding stereotypes.

Tinkerbell takes us behind the happily-ever-afters of Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine. Dreams and expectations are shattered, and it ends with a satisfying twist.

These girls know what they're doing; they're accomplished singers and performers, and rather than being tied down by the constraints of its cabaret format, use it to great advantage, keeping the show pacey, cheeky and a lot of fun.
